Outpace Poverty 5K @ Avila

Avila University and its surrounding neighborhood will be the site for Catholic Charities Outpace Poverty 5K on Saturday, October 12, starting at 8 am (7 am for registration) at 11901 Wornall Rd.

Proceeds from Outpace Poverty 2024 benefit the programs and services provided by Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph. The organization is in the process of moving its headquarters to the south Kansas City area into the former St. Matthew Apostle Catholic Church at 8001 Longview Rd. Since 2001, the building had been one of Catholic Charities’ Serve & Lift Centers in the region. Earlier this year, the church underwent extensive renovation to accommodate a warehouse for donated food and supplies for a new food pantry as well as for office and education spaces.

All 5K participants will receive a t-shirt and treats from sponsors and vendors. The first 50 registrants will receive a goody bag. For more information, visit catholiccharities-kcsj.org/.
