At 2:44 a.m.. ambulance crews responded to meet Midtown and South Patrol officers on a reported injury collision with life threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on I-470 at a high rate of speed. The Chevrolet failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway, traveling off the roadway to the left and striking the guardrail. The Chevrolet continued traveling eastbound in between the guardrails separating the eastbound lanes of travel from the westbound lanes of travel. The Chevrolet overturned, rolling over the guardrails and concrete Jersey barriers before coming to rest in the westbound lanes of I-470. The unrestrained driver and sole occupant of the Chevrolet was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Chevrolet driver is currently in critical condition and the investigation is ongoing.
