
Jazz Vespers features vocalist Molly Hammer
Kansas City Jazz Vespers features Molly Hammer, jazz soloist, and her band, on Sunday, October 8, 6:00 -8:00 pm at the historic First Baptist Church of Kansas City, MO, 100 W. Red Bridge Road and Wornall Road in south Kansas City. She will be performing with Joe Cartwright on piano, Steve Rigazzi on bass, and Sam Wisman on drums.
Hammer was named Pitch magazine Critic’s Choice Best Jazz Singer saying she “doesn’t just own a song–she owns the room where she sings the song.” Hammer is a native of Excelsior Springs but is currently one of Kansas City’s most popular jazz singers. With an theater vocal background, she has found her home in the world of jazz and blues, drawing inspiration from the likes of Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan.
