The annual 6th Council District spring cleanup for KCMO residents will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6, with drop-off sites at First Baptist Church of Kansas City, 100 W. Red Bridge Rd. on the northwest corner of Red Bridge & Wornall Rds., and at the east parking lot of Ruskin High School, 7000 E. 111th St.
Items that will be accepted for no cost at both sites include bulky items such as old furniture, leaves & brush, tires with or without rims and trash.
Most electronics (anything with a circuit board or a plug) also will be accepted for no charge, but there are charges as shown for the following items: CRT monitors $5, any appliance containing Freon $10, LED/LCD/plasma TVs $20, CRT TVs with screens 26 inches or less $30, CRT TVs with screens 27 inches or more $50 and wood console & big screen/projection TVs $50.
Free on-site document shredding also is available at both sites.
The cleanup will be conducted by the KCMO Public Works Department and is sponsored by 6th District City Councilmembers Andrea Bough and Mayor Pro Tem Kevin McManus, the Community Assistance Council and the South Kansas City Alliance.
