Father Jonathan Frazier, will offer a blessing of the animals at 11 am on the front lawn of St. Peter & All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 E. Red Bridge Rd., Saturday, October 1. The entire community is invited.
Each dog, cat, guinea pig, bird, etc. will receive, by name, a pastoral blessing of good health and thanksgiving.
The blessing of the animals honors Saint Francis of Assisi, who was known for his love and respect for the environment and all creatures in it.
“It is my hope that the inspiration of Saint Francis will help us to keep ever alive a sense of ‘fraternity’ with all those good and beautiful things which Almighty God has created,” John Paul II.
St. Peter & All Saints Episcopal church has been part of the South Kansas City community for over 50 years, reaching out to those in need. Worship times are each Sunday at 8am and 10:30 am.
