Bicentennial Ice Cream Social Independence
Bicentennial Ice Cream Social Independence – August 14. National Frontier Trail Museum, 318 W. Pacific. The Puppetry Arts Institute will have shows at 11 am and 1:30 pm. Free museum visit including newly restored Pioneer Cabin. Day ends with ice cream social.
“The 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis was the birthplace of the ice cream cone. In 2008, the ice cream cone became Missouri’s official state dessert. To celebrate the state’s bicentennial, communities were asked to hold ice cream socials on Tuesday, August 10th, the day Missouri became a state.“
