Grandview Mayor Leonard Jones and City Administrator Cemal Gungor will tell us about that city’s package of three no tax increase bond issues that will be on the April 5 ballot at our monthly SKCA membership meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 14, in the community room of the front building at the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr.
The $21 million “Building Up Grandview” bond package includes millions for needed improvements to city streets and the Blue Ridge Blvd. corridor that will benefit area drivers generally as well as Grandview residents.
The need to extend KCMO’s current 22-cent health levy for nine years to help cover the cost of essential medical care for indigent city residents provided by University Health (formerly Truman Medical Center), nonprofit neighborhood health centers such as Swope Health and the fire department’s ambulance service that also will be on the April 5 ballot will be explained by Gerard Grimaldi, chief health policy & government relations officer for University Health.
Krista Morrison, KCMO budget officer, will discuss the most significant changes from this fiscal year’s adopted budget that are in the proposed city budget for the upcoming fiscal year starting May 1 and respond to questions.  The proposed budget can still be amended by the city council which is scheduled to adopt it later this month.
Alex Jones, Starlight Theatre’s vice president of community engagement, will talk about future plans for this iconic attraction and a survey it is conducting to get input on community needs and desires.
