See your kitty among the best at CatVideoFest

In a sea of scripted summer blockbusters that serve to line the bulging pockets of studio execs, there is one film experience that will claw its way into your heart, and it’s called CatVideoFest.
For years, humans have attempted “reality” entertainment, but true, unscripted realism is best left to actors who don’t see the stage before them. If you want actual reality, you need a cast of characters that can’t be corralled.
CatVideoFest has no scripts, no plots, no sets, and most importantly, no humans. You’ll guffaw, you’ll chortle, and in between, you’ll say ‘aww’ over 9,000 times.
Since 2019, director Will Braden has been bringing the best beasts to the big screens of independent theaters. The resulting 70-minute family-friendly experience is sourced from unique submissions, animations, music videos, and of course, classic cats of the interwebs.
“Cat videos are not a hard sell, so giving people the opportunity to do some good just by getting together to watch cat videos is even easier,” Baden told the Telegraph. “It’s part of the DNA of CatVideoFest that every single show has a local beneficiary,”
The internationally-acclaimed CatVideoFest premiered Friday, August 7th at the Glenwood Arts theater in RanchMart, and and was scheduled to run through August 13th. Due to popular demand, it has been extended to August 15, 16, 17 and 19. Tickets are $10 each, and 10% of ticket sales will benefit Melissa’s Second Chances, a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue in Shawnee.
And that’s the whole point of CatVideoFest: to help local cats in each city where the film premieres, while celebrating these fuzzy little apex predators that apathetically dictate our lives.
