This year Grandview’s Bash on Byars celebration has a Disney theme. And much like a Disney movie, the annual event magically transports from its September date and lands in June.
On June 12 from 5 to 10 pm, the Grandview Amphitheater will come alive with Disney costumed characters, face painting, games, KidZone, food trucks, live music and fireworks. Winners of a costume contest will be announced at 6:30 pm.
“We moved Bash on Byars up this year to take advantage of the global visitors for the World Cup,” explains Liz Ogle, president of the Grandview Chamber or Commerce which organizes the event. Kansas City is a host city for the FIFA World Cup which is expected to draw soccer fans from around the world from June 11 to July 19. Local World Cup organizers have encouraged local communities to host their regular events earlier for the international tourists’ experience.

“It’s why we chose the Disney theme. It’s a global theme that all can relate to and recognize,” says Ogle.
The concert, which begins at 7 pm, will feature the Kansas City band Lost Wax, which was the house band for the NFL Draft that was held in Kansas City in 2023.
The event is free and open to the public. Grandview Amphitheater is located at 13501 Byars Rd.
