At 11:44 am, ambulances responded to the area of 85th and 71 Hwy in order to assist the Metro Police Officers on an injury crash. The crash began at 71 Hwy and Hickman Mills Drive and ended at Blue River Road and Hickman Mills.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Beige Chevrolet Silverado was driving North on 71 Hwy from Bannister. For reason undetermined, just West of the Rock Ridge Quarry, the driver left the roadway and entered the adjacent grassy median. As he was trying to regain control of his vehicle, he went down a concrete embankment separating the opposite highways. The driver went airborne and subsequently impacted the guardrail causing the truck to flip and rolled over to his resting position.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This marks fatality #18 compared to #12 at the same time last year. The investigation is ongoing.
