This afternoon around noon, officers were dispatched to the 9700 block of Locust Street.
Upon arrival officers, located an adult male outside a townhouse who matched the suspect description provided in call notes. That individual was immediately taken into police custody for further questioning.
Officers checked the inside of the residence for any potential victims suffering from violent crime. An adult male was located inside the townhouse suffering from apparent gunshot trauma and was unresponsive on police arrival. EMS responded and immediately declared the victim deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates this incident was a result of an argument between two family members that escalated into shots fired.
Homicide detectives in crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin collecting any evidence and gathering witness statements. They are not currently seeking any further persons of interest. This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
