Ambulance crew responded to meet Midtown and South Patrol officers on a confirmed fatality collision at 49 Hwy and I-470. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on I-49 at a very high rate of speed. The Toyota failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway, traveling off the roadway to the right and striking a concrete bridge support located underneath I-470. The unrestrained driver and sole occupant of the Toyota was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. This is fatality #37 compared to #48 at this time last year and the investigation is ongoing.
