Crews from the Kansas City Fire Department responded to a reported fire at Canyon Creek Apartments in the 9300 block of Bales Drive at 1:10 p.m.
Crews reported smoke and fire showing from the exterior of a three-story occupied apartment building on arrival.
Companies initiated an offensive fire attack on arrival using one handline. Searches of the structure were conducted and came back “all clear”. The fire was brought under control just after 1:28 p.m.
One civilian was transported by ambulance for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCFD.
Dangerous buildings have also been requested to the scene.
Canyon Creek Apartments is located near Bannister and 71 Hwy.
