The Rockhurst High School Theatre Department will present Frankenstein on October 30-31 and November 1. The play is adapted by R.N. Sandberg from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel.
“Even two centuries later, Shelley’s story reminds us that progress without compassion can lead to destruction, ” said Anthony McMurray, Rockhurst theatre teacher and director of the play. “Victor Frankenstein’s pursuit of scientific power mirrors modern debates about technology, artificial intelligence, and the ethics of creation.”
The cast is made up of 16 actors: 9 Rockhurst students and 7 girls from local high schools. There are eight members of the stage crew.
McMurray says his students have been excited and challenged by the emotional depth of Shelley’s characters.
Performances are at 7 pm in the Rose Theater, 9301 State Line Rd. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or online.
