On August 15, Grandview held a “Jackhammer Ceremony” on a lot at 514 Main Street to mark the beginning of its $1 million Main Street Expansion project, which is a part of Building Up Grandview — the $21M bond package passed in 2022.
At the event, Mayor Leonard Jones took a moment to acknowledge the 2023 Civic Leader of the Year, WWII veteran, Ben Teevan. Jones expressed how grateful the city was for him to be in attendance.
The project’s improvements include wider sidewalks for outdoor dining, more monarch butterfly-friendly landscaping, new streetlights and street resurfacing.
A substantial amount of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The first phase of the street expansion will be working on the stormwater infrastructure.
