On December 5, the Hickman Mills C-1 School District Board of Directors announced it will extend the contract of Interim Superintendent Dennis L. Carpenter, Ed.D. for two years. Carpenter will no longer be considered “interim.”
The board’s evaluation is based on Carpenter’s first semester as leader. He was hired August 1 to replace Yaw Obeng who was terminated in July.
Board President Bonnaye Mims said the Board has been encouraged by Carpenter’s work, including his response to the Missouri State Auditor’s investigation and audit of the district, and his efforts to find ways to cut $14 million from the budget.
Carpenter will serve as superintendent through the the 2027-28 school year.
