Due to ongoing pop-up storms and the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the City of Leawood has canceled all Celebration in the Park activities scheduled for this evening (July 4) at Leawood City Park.
The community fireworks show has been postponed to Sunday, July 5, at 9:45 p.m. at Leawood City Park.
Although weather conditions may improve later this evening, the continued threat of lightning prevents crews from safely setting up the fireworks in time for a full show. In addition, the City wants to prioritize the safety of guests who would be parking off-site and could face challenges exiting the area quickly if severe weather develops.
The City looks forward to welcoming the community tomorrow evening for the rescheduled fireworks display. Parking will be available on-site at City Park, making it even easier for residents and visitors to enjoy the show.
The City appreciates the public’s understanding and looks forward to celebrating together on Sunday night.
