The City of Leawood will celebrate the grand opening of a new, state-of-the-art playground at Tomahawk Park, 3951 W 119th St. on Thursday, April 24, at 6 pm.
The event will include a short program with remarks from City officials, Earth Day-themed activities like coloring bags and seed packs, and treats for children, and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring the giant ceremonial scissors.
“For decades, Tomahawk Park has been a beloved part of our community,” said Mayor Elkins. “Many parents still remember their children asking, ‘Can we go to the Blue Park?’ and now, many of those children are parents themselves. This new playground honors those memories while creating new ones for the next generation.”
The new playground features inclusive play structures, bike racks, ground-level elements, educational signage, and swings.
The public is invited to attend this family-friendly celebration and explore the upgraded amenities.
