By Kathy Feist
“Whatever special talent you have, it is the first thing drugs take away,” Ray Lozano announced to hundreds of students at Center Middle School.
“Who here can hold onto $20 if you have $80?” he asks. Hundreds of hands shot in the air.
“Drugs will take that ability away,” said Lozano. “Drugs take away amazing things.”
Lozano is an Elks National Drug Awareness speaker. Through his work with a teen ministry early in his career, he saw firsthand the ravages of drug use in young adults. He has spent his career

Kansas City Elks Lodge 26 hosted Lozano, who lives in California, to speak to parents and middle school students at Center Middle School February 4th and 5th.
Lozano, who has been a comedian, vice principal and drug counselor, provided scientific facts and fun activities to reach the students. The parents were introduced to new ways of communicating to their children using techniques that equipped them with factual data and real world talking tips.
Elks Lodge 26 is located off 99th & Holmes Rd.
