On November 20, around 10:30 pm, ambulances responded to meet South Patrol in regard to a vehicle striking a person in a wheelchair on the highway. The name of the victim has been identified as Danny L. Maynard, age 50. For unknown reasons, the Maynard was crossing the highway from the east to the west. A silver Chevy Cruze was traveling south on US 49 Highway merging towards the right shoulder to yield to a Fire Truck, running with emergency lights and siren. The driver of the Chevy did not see Maynard in the wheelchair and struck him with the right front of his vehicle. Maynard was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the Chevy Cruze was not injured in the collision.
