On August 15, the Kansas City City Council approved revised plans for the Villas at Oakwood, 9700 Grandview Rd. (near Bannister and 71 Hwy). The revised plans are for the construction of two cottages on the 29-acre property adjacent to Oakwood Country Club as opposed to four as originally designed.
The Villas at Oakwood consist of 16 villas and the guest cottages which will surround a 9-hole par 3 golf course. The golf course has been built and the cottages have begun construction. The villas will be constructed as each plot is sold to private individuals. Unlike the privately owned villas, the cottages will be rented out to guests of Oakwood Country Club members who need a temporary stay for such events as golf tournaments, weddings or other special events.

The 143-year-old Oakwood Country Club has recently undergone extensive renovations thanks to Ken Block, managing principal of Block Real Estate Services, LLC, who purchased the property in 2020. In 2022 he acquired the former Spofford Treatment Center property adjacent to the country club, which is now being transformed into Villas at Oakwood.
