At 12:22 pm, ambulance crews responded to the area of southbound 71 Highway and Longview Road to meet South Patrol officers on a reported injury crash with critical injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a red GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling southbound on 71 Highway, just north of Longview Road. For reasons unknown, the GMC ran off the roadway to the right, striking the guardrail several times. The GMC then rolled over and slid southbound on 71 Highway before coming to rest.
The driver and sole occupant of the GMC was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries and is currently in critical, but stable condition.
Four lanes of southbound 71 Highway were closed to traffic for approximately two and a half hours. The highway has since been reopened.
