Kansas City’s Shepherd’s Center provides a number of services for older adults. This fall the nonprofit is seeking volunteers for KC Rakes, a community-led yard cleanup service.
Working in teams of 5-8, volunteers will rake and provide light yardwork for an older neighbor who is unable to do the work themselves. The work days for south Kansas City are November 14 (corporate day) and November 15.
In 2024, more than 300 Shepherd’s Center volunteers raked more than 50 homes. The service not only improves curb appeal but also makes walks and driveways safer before the threat of winter weather.
Sign up online to volunteer, either as an individual or with a group (businesses, churches, civic/social groups). For more information, email at Erin@kcshepherdscenter.org.
