A second teenager has died after a Hickman Mills shooting that left another teen dead and an adult man injured.
The first victim has been identified as 17-year-old Rontez D Donahue, a Black male whose 18th birthday would have been Sunday (June 14). The second shooting victim has been identified as Dion Sims-Bey, an 18-year-old Black male.
Officers were dispatched to 92nd Street and Old Santa Fe Road at 11:15 p.m. Friday night for a reported shooting. They were directed to an apartment building, where they found a juvenile male over the age of 16 suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Aid was rendered until EMS declared the juvenile deceased, according to a Friday statement.
Two more gunshot victims were also located at the scene and appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds. One was another juvenile male over the age of 16, and the other was an adult male. Both victims were transported to area hospitals.
An adult male suspect was located on scene and was taken into custody pending further investigation.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to begin collecting evidence and witness statements. Detectives are not currently seeking any additional persons of interest.
Hospital staff notified KCPD that the second juvenile victim was declared deceased on Saturday, according to a Sunday statement from public information officer Alayna Gonzalez.
