Vaccination Sites

COVID-19 mass vaccination sites are now open in the Kansas City area for all unvaccinated Missouri residents who are 16 and over.

The KCMO Health Department is providing Pfizer vaccinations in the south parking lot of Smith-Hale Middle School at the former Hickman Mills High School, 9010A Old Santa Fe Rd., from 9:30 to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.  The site has the capability to administer 800-1,000 vaccinations daily.

Registration is required.  Persons may register by going online to kcmo.gov and clicking on Get Vaccinated Now which alternates being shown with other subjects at the top of the screen.  Persons also may call 311 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and use the first prompt to make an appointment.

Cerner Corporation provided Pfizer vaccinations April 15 and 16 at its World Headquarters Campus at 2951 Rock Creek Parkway in Kansas City north of the Missouri River as part of its Operation Safe program in partnership with local area governments, hospitals and other entities.  Operation Safe has administered over 73,000 vaccinations to date.

Kristian Starner, lead government strategist for Cerner, said at the April 12 South Kansas City Alliance meeting that its site has the capability to administer 4,000 vaccinations daily, but only 58 percent of its appointments are filled for the 15th and 16th.  She said appointments start at 7:50 a.m. and last until about 5 p.m., and the wait for vaccinations is a half hour or less.
