Around 4 am, ambulances responded to assist South Patrol and Midtown officers with an injury crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Infiniti was traveling southbound on I-435 at a high rate of speed approaching the Highway 470 split when the driver failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and collided with the concrete support pillar of an overhead highway sign, where the vehicle came to rest. Both occupants were transported to an area hospital. The driver showed signs of impairment, and the passenger is listed in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
