With the opening of Price Chopper, the renovation of Wornall Village Shopping Center at 85th and Wornall is now complete, according to Matt Kaushal, Vice President of Real Estate for the Tutero Group, which owns the property.
“We’re very excited,” says Kaushal. “Price Chopper did a great job. It’s going to be great for the community.”
Already a new tenant has signed a lease for the available spaces on the north end of the strip. Joy Wok Super Buffet will take over 6000 square feet. The restaurant serves Chinese cuisine buffet style as well as hibachi and sushi at its original location at 119th and Metcalf.

The renovation, which began in 2019, involved demolishing a vacant stand-alone Church’s Chicken and two houses on the northwest side of the building. Construction to the property included landscaped islands, wider entrances, new sidewalks, repaved parking lot, and stone veneer and stucco on the exterior walls of the shopping strip.
Many of the tenants left, including Chinese Express, a small takeout restaurant. Piano Room bar stayed throughout the construction process. Two pad sites, including Dairy Queen and the former Church’s, are still available for lease. “We can build to suit,” says Kaushal.
