Avila Theater features War of the Worlds during homecoming week
You know the story: Mars invades! Avila University theater students will perform Orson Wells’ 1938 radio adaptation of the H.G. Wells sci-fi classic War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast, October 3 -6 at Whitfield Center on the Avila campus, 119th and Wornall Rd.
This radio-play-within-a-radio-play makes seeing as much fun as hearing the thrilling events behind the broadcast that shook real-life America. Experience the alien invasion yourself from the safety of the radio studio.
Performances are being held in a smaller space this year due to ongoing construction at Goppert Theater. The performance also is part of Avila’s homecoming activities. Reservations are necessary. Tickets are $10 a seat for 7:30pm on Thursday, Oct. 3rd, Friday, Oct. 4th, and 2pm on Sunday Oct. 6th.For reservations call 816-501-3699 or email box.office@avila.edu.
