The Cass County Health Department has issued a warning to local Medicare recipients to be on guard against phone calls from scammers posing as county employees. Scammers use manipulative tactics to obtain personal information, which can be used for identity theft or fraudulent purchases.
The health department says it will never call asking for personal information.
If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the Cass County Health Department, hang up and call the official number at 816-380-8429. Suspicious calls can be reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at 1-877-382-4357 or at www.ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
