Main Street Theater in Belton presents Nana’s Naughty Knickers

A sweet grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to every senior citizen in the five-borough area.

In conjunction with Belton’s downtown celebration of Carry Nation Days, the Main Street Theater located in the 1906 city hall building, will kick off their stage production of Nana’s Naughty Knickers at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. The production runs June 5th to June 21.

Nana’s Naughty Knickers tells the story of Bridget, who is thrilled to spend the summer with her Nana in New York City. But it quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. Her sweet grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to every senior citizen in the five-borough area. Things spiral out of control when a doorman, policeman and landlord start to suspect something unusual is going on. When Nana’s “Saucy Slips” orders get mixed-up with orders from “Saucy LIPS” more chaos ensues.

Karen McLaughlin, a veteran Main Street Theater actor, takes the reins as director. McLaughlin selected the play and designed the set.  Set builders were up to the challenge of preparing all the nooks and crannies necessary to hide the knickers from visitors to the apartment.

Nana’s Naughty Knickers by Katherine DiSavino runs  Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm. Reservations are strongly suggested as seating is limited. Call 816-406-9422 to reserve your seats or ask questions. For more information, visit www.MainStreetTheaterBelton.com.

Main Street Theater is located at 510 Main Street, Belton. This historic stage was built in 1906 and has hosted traveling troubadours and Belton High School plays in the 1930s. Rob and Pam Powell of Belton restored the theater in 2017 and are celebrating their 9th season of presenting plays to the public.
