What’s new at Avila University 2018-19

Avila Athletics moves to a new conference this year and will have a new fight song.

Classes begin Aug. 22 for most students at Avila University, which announced a promise last September to lower tuition, guarantee graduation in four years, guarantee an internship or research experience and provide a monetary travel award. The campus at 11901 Wornall Rd. welcomes two new leaders: Alexandra Adams, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management and Anastasia Caffrey, director of corporate engagement.

Avila Athletics moves to a new conference this year, the KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference). The first home football game for the Avila Eagles is Sept. 8 and the public is invited to attend.In addition, Avila will have a brand new fight song, which was created this summer. The fight song will be released to the public later this fall, and is the first such song in the 100+ year history of Avila University.

Need a wellness check? This year Avila is partnering with St. Joseph Medical Center to provide an on-site health center with a full-time nurse practitioner. In addition to serving students, these services are open to the public. The partnership combines traditional on-campus care with expanded access to award-winning hospital, specialty care, outpatient services and a variety of outreach programs.
