Summer Reading
The Blue Ridge Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) will host a kickoff party for its summer reading program for youth and adults at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 31, and the Red Bridge Branch will host a similar party at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2.
Youth can accumulate points to earn books and chances to win prizes by reading books of their choice, attending special programs and doing educational activities at home. Prizes include a Kindle Fire, iPod Touch and Chiefs, Royals and Worlds of Fun tickets.
Adults who read at least 1,000 minutes will receive a free tote bag and be entered to win prizes such as concert and Chiefs tickets.
