January 15 @ 10:50 am - 12:00 pm
The First Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri, a multi-racial congregation, will celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday on January 15 at their 10:50 am service in the church’s sanctuary located in south Kansas City at the corner of Wornall Road and Red Bridge Road.
Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Jones will preach on the topic: “Turning Toward the Beloved Community: Why We Must Turn from White Christian Nationalism.” Dr. Jones serves on the National Gamaliel Religious Leaders Table that will be introducing a national “Call of the Beloved Community” in 2023 to advance Martin Luther King Jr’s idea of the Beloved Community and to call America to step away from White Christian Nationalism, which is an ideology, and a complete mis-statement of the Gospel of Jesus.
The service will feature Gospel music as the chancel choir sings, “Precious Lord,” one of King’s favorite gospel songs.
The public is invited to attend in person, or to watch the live streaming service on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ fbckc/ The public can also watch the service on the church’s website beginning at 1:00 pm on Sunday at http://fbckcmo.net/worship services
