Four Avila University undergraduates received entry to the 25th annual Kansas City Artists Coalition Undergraduate Student Juried Exhibition, which will celebrate its closing reception virtually from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening, Friday, April 24. The 2020 juror, Garry Noland, is a locally-trained artist whose works have exhibited in galleries across the United States.
Open to currently enrolled undergraduate college students in Missouri and Kansas, the annual exhibition features works in a variety of traditional and non-traditional media. During the closing reception, KCAC will name a winner of $500 in scholarship through the Leigh Rosenberg Earnest Memorial Fund. Avila students Victoria Aguilar, Brandon Barrero, Liz Gomes and Madison McKinney are each eligible for the top prize. Last year, current Avila student Allison Rose won the top prize for her photography.
Avila’s School of Visual & Communication Arts (VisCom) is one of the most visible schools on campus and hosts “Art + Design” and “Communications” programs. Additionally, the on-campus Thornhill Art Gallery regularly features work from Avila students, as well as travel exhibits featuring artists from around the world.
