All KCMO residents will again be able to properly dispose of unwanted items at the upcoming annual spring drop-off events conducted by the Kansas City Public Works Department and sponsored by the 5th & 6th District City Councilmembers.

The 6th District cleanup will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 2, with drop-off sites at First Baptist Church of Kansas City at 100 West Red Bridge Rd. on the northwest corner of Red Bridge & Wornall Roads and at South Broadland Presbyterian Church at 7850 Holmes Rd.

Trash, leaves & brush and tires with and without rims will be accepted at the First Baptist Church site which will also offer free on-site document shredding.

The same items will be accepted at the South Broadland Presbyterian Church site, and on-site document shredding will be available.  That site also will accept disposal of the following electronic items & appliances for the fees shown for each item:   CRT monitors $5; air conditioners, dehumidifiers, freezers & refrigerators $10; LCD, LED & plasma flat screen TVs $20; CRT TVs $30-$50 depending on size; and console & projection TVs $50.

The 5th District cleanup will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9, with drop off sites at Center Academy for Success at 8434 Paseo, Ruskin High School, 7000 E. 111th St. in the rear parking lot and at Southeast High School, 3500 E. Meyer Blvd.

The Center Academy for Success site will offer the same services as the First Baptist Church site as well as also accepting bulky items such as old furniture.  The Ruskin High School site will offer the same services as the South Broadland Presbyterian Church site with the same charges for electronic items and also will accept bulky items.  The Southeast High School site will accept the same items as the First Baptist Church site as well as accepting bulky items but will not offer document shredding.

All the drop-off sites generally attract hundreds of city residents, many with pickup truck or trailer loads of unwanted items, so residents will be well advised to come to the sites as early as possible to avoid long lines

Both City Council Districts are expected to again offer their annual drop-off events in the fall.
