A state senator and four representatives were just five of nearly 20 current and former elected officials in attendance at a South KC Alliance meeting on Monday evening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCFD. No injuries have been reported from this incident.
“We’ve got several areas in south Kansas City, but we need to really look at how we can demolish these buildings,” said Darrell Curls, councilman for the 5th District at Large. “They’ve been sitting vacant — some of them — for 20-plus years. I mean, that’s unacceptable to me.”
Grandview High School honored four alumni: Brian Sloan, Stacia Williams, Jonathan Goforth and Curtis Smith.
“This was not near a World Cup venue or base camp,” KCPD public information officer Alayna Gonzalez told the Telegraph in an email Sunday evening.
