KCP&L Payment Options
Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) announced Friday, August 31, that effective immediately and through September it will not disconnect residential customers behind in their payments due to this summer’s unusually hot temperatures and resulting high electric bills.
Such customers are being offered a 4-month period to pay off their balances and will need to pay each month’s portion of their balances as well as the current bill for that month.
To participate in this extended pay period, customers must call the KCP&L customer care center at 816-471-5275 or 1-888-471-5275. Wait times may be longer than usual due to the expected number of calls.
“To ensure service isn’t interrupted in October, it’s important that customers call us in September to make payment arrangements,” said Chuck Caisley, KCP&L Chief Customer Officer.
KCP&L announced that disconnect notices, including letters and phone calls, will still be sent in September so customers are aware of their balances and can work to pay them off to avoid disconnection once the September grace period is over.
